Release schedule and p9 questions

Hello,
I was curious as to when we can expect the next wmii release. It
seems the snapshots have made great strides since wmii-2, but being a
stickler for this sort of stuff, I have only built archlinux packages
for the release versions, not the snapshots.

On a side note, I am a tad unclear on exactly how 9base compares to
9rc (does 9base include 9rc?) and how they both compare to
plan9port... can someone explain this?

It was planned for the end of the month, when I spoke with garbeam on
the phone he said he has done even more progress while being offline,
and he will commit it as soon as he is back online(supposedly today or
tomorrow).

What I understood from garbeam is that 9base is deprecated, and that 9rc
is what wmii-3 will depend on(not really depend on, only that it will be
used for the default configuration system, but anyone can write a
configuration system in any language).

Both 9rc and 9base are subsets of certain parts of p9p, but now with
russ planning to break p9p into more modular parts, maybe even 9rc will
go away and instead depend on parts of p9p(I think it's still not clear
how will p9p be broken up, best ask russ about that).

P.S.: There is an experimental version of the 'modular' p9p with debian
packages in:
deb http://swtch.com/debian/ testing main
Russ told me that this would still go thru some more reorganization
soon.

I was curious as to when we can expect the next wmii release. It
I expect it around Oct 1.

9rc is a subset of plan9ports which contains rc beside several
utilities which are used in scripts very often like sleep, sed, grep,
etc.

9base is a superset of 9rc and contains some more utils which are
rarely used in scripts, like ls, lc, etc. The default wmii
configuration is based on 9rc. 9base is not intended to be maintained
further by me and marked as proof-of-concept.
